Riad Quara In Marrakech – When Modernity And Traditions Clash

The very first thing that comes to my mind when I am asked about my impressions about Riad Quara in Marrakesh is: many hotel owners could learn from this riad how to treat their guests. Why? Let me explain it to you.

When you ring the bell you are welcomed by one of those lovely people: Hayat and Rachid. Both of them are always smiling and willing to help. Your mood and attitude gets better by 100% at the entrance and you forget all your worries!

The riad is quite small, which makes it cosy and you feel like home. If you prefer to feel home atmosphere instead of staying in a huge, chain hotel- Riad Quara is a perfect proposition for you. It can fit 11 guests at once so groups are welcome- grab your friends and come. There are 5 beautiful rooms, held in the traditional Moroccan style with a touch of modernity. The price of a room depends on the season. A room for two with breakfast is 90 euros in the high season and 80 euros in the low season. The rooms are very clean and taken care of. What I liked the most were the Moroccan style bathrooms with enormously spacious showers!

When you leave your suitcases in your room, take the stairs and climb up to the last floor, you will probably change your plans and spend your evening there: at the roof top! It happened to me:) Why? Look at the photos and you’ll know why!

MY FAVORITE PLACE TO BE!

you can order your dinner to be served at the terrace. When you’re fed up with sunbathing you can take a shower… also at the terrace! (in the photo: right behind the flowers, in the corner)

If you want some relax for your body and senses you can go to the riad’s hammam. It’s very intimate, beautiful and cosy.

As a foodie, I was very pleased to take apart in the cooking course offered to me by Hayat. I polished my tajine skills, learnt (finally!) how to prepare Moroccan bread (batbout) and layered pancake (msmen) and Moroccan salad. The outcome of the course supervised by the master chef, Hanane is here:

thanks to Hanane, I finally prepared a DELICIOUS tajine! Thanks Hanane for explaining everything to me and being so patient:) I had so much fun!

Talking about food…
Riad Quara’s cooks, Hanane and Khadija, are simply masters. I enjoyed all the mouthwatering dishes prepared by them and I had to forget about my diet for those 3 days;)

delicious couscous with vegetables
starters: briwate with meat, veggies and potatoes and grilled green paprika

super-delicious figue cookies baked by Hanane and Khadija. Served to the guests upon arrival. Yummy!

If you want to relax and have an amazing Moroccan experience you may have a bath in the riad’s hammam. Its ambience is very unique, the place is clean and beautiful. One session for 2 people costs 25 euros.

I genuinely loved the riad and the atmosphere there. I was constantly asked if I needed something, if I was ok. In the same time, I had a lot of privacy- all that a person needs to relax! I wish I could have stayed longer. Next time I will probably go there with my friends and family to let them enjoy as much as I did:) So… See you in Riad Quara?
