First aired during last Ramadan on Al Oula channel, this compelling Moroccan film tells a story that resonated deeply and left quite an impression on me.
Plot
The story follows a woman who becomes a social media content creator, regularly posting videos on various platforms. Her growing online presence begins to create tension when her husband becomes increasingly uncomfortable with her public exposure. Things take a turn when she leaves her livestream running open, leading to an incident that’s bound to go viral.
The narrative progresses as her husband’s disapproval forces him to rethink their situation, ultimately resulting in him removing both himself and their children from her life. Meanwhile, her social media presence continues to grow, though this fame comes at a significant cost. The increasing popularity leads to mounting problems with their families, culminating in a somewhat sad, though predictable, ending.
Visual Style
What particularly impressed me about the film was its cinematography. The vibrant color palette used throughout perfectly complements the contemporary nature of the story, making it feel especially relevant to our current times.
Cast
The film features strong performances from its lead actors including:
- Ibtissam El Arousi
- Hamza Tahiri
- Fadila Benmoussa
- Additional supporting cast
Direction
The film was written and directed by Safaa Baraka, who successfully brings this modern cautionary tale to life.
