Last weekend, I took my family to Dar Bouazza beach near Casablanca, and I couldn't believe what I saw. The beach has completely changed – and I mean in the best way possible!
What's Different Now?
For years, going to Dar Bouazza was stressful. Young men would approach you aggressively, trying to force you to rent their umbrellas and chairs. They would follow families around saying "pay now or leave!" It wasn't the peaceful beach day we wanted.
But now? Everything is organized and calm. The beach authorities have set up proper rental stations for umbrellas and chairs. The prices are fair, and nobody bothers you if you bring your own things.
Better Security and Cleanliness
The royal gendarmerie now patrols the beach regularly. I saw them walking around, making sure everyone feels safe. They've also banned people from bringing animals to harass tourists – something that used to be a real problem.
The cleaning campaigns are working too. I noticed crews picking up trash and keeping the sand clean. When you see this effort, it makes you want to take care of the beach yourself.
No More Beach Hassles
The biggest change? No more aggressive vendors! Before, young men would literally block your path and demand payment for using "their" part of the beach. This never made sense to me – the ocean belongs to everyone, not to individuals trying to claim territory.
Now families can spread their towels anywhere they want without being hassled. My wife and I brought our elderly mother, and she could enjoy the sea breeze without stress.
Why This Matters for Morocco
These improvements aren't just about one beach. They show Morocco is serious about making tourism better for everyone – both Moroccans and visitors from abroad.
When I travel to other countries, I see how organized their beaches are. Now Dar Bouazza feels just as professional. Families are coming back in large numbers because they know they can relax.
Small Problems Still Need Fixing
The public toilets are locked most of the time, which creates problems for elderly visitors and families with children. I hope the authorities will fix this soon – it's important for making the beach accessible to everyone.
Also, the parking situation could be better organized, but it's much improved from before.
Perfect for Family Days
Dar Bouazza is now ideal for family outings. The beach is clean, the water is beautiful, and you can enjoy mint tea at the beachside cafés without anyone pressuring you to buy things.
The beach stretches for kilometers, so there's plenty of space even on busy weekends. I love watching the fishing boats in the distance and the surfers catching waves.
Getting There
From Casablanca, take a shared taxi (it's cheaper than private transport) or drive about 20 kilometers west. The beach is in the Tamaris neighborhood of Dar Bouazza.
Park near the main beach entrance where you'll find the organized umbrella and chair rentals.
My Final Thoughts
After years of avoiding Dar Bouazza because of the hassles, I'm happy to recommend it again. The authorities listened to people's complaints and made real changes.
Now when I think about weekend plans, Dar Bouazza is back on the list. It feels good to enjoy our own beautiful coastline without stress.
Morocco has incredible beaches, and seeing Dar Bouazza improve gives me hope that other coastal areas will follow this example. Sometimes change takes time, but when it happens, it's worth celebrating.
