Darija: What You Need To Know About Moroccan Dialect Of Arabic

Many foreigners have a hard time understanding the idea of darija. Here’re some facts that may make it easier for you to understand:)



 

#1 ARE THEY ARGUING?!

No they are not! This language is just so far from being romantic:)

#2 ARABIC VS ARABIC

To my bitter disappointment my classical Arabic classes I had back in Poland were not useful. Moroccan darija is a fusion of Spanish, French, Berber dialects and Arabic.

#3 MOROCCANS AND THE REST OF THE WORLD…

Moroccans understand other Arabic-speakers. Other Arabic-speakers don’t understand Moroccans. Morocco 1:0.
