10 Days in Morocco: My Perfect Solo Adventure Itinerary

Planning a solo trip to Morocco but feeling overwhelmed by all the possibilities? Let me share exactly what I'd do if I only had 10 precious days to explore this magical country.

After years of calling Morocco home, I've learned that sometimes the best adventures happen when you embrace both the must-sees and the unexpected moments. Here's my honest, tried-and-tested itinerary for 10 days in Morocco that balances iconic experiences with authentic discoveries.

Days 1-2: Marrakech - The Perfect Introduction

Fly into Marrakech and give yourself two full days to fall under its spell. I'd spend the first day hitting the tourist highlights – Jemaa el-Fnaa square at sunset, the stunning Majorelle Garden, and maybe the Saadian Tombs. Trust me, there's a reason these places are famous.

But here's where it gets interesting: dedicate your second day to getting completely lost in the medina. No map, no plan – just wander. Some of my most treasured Marrakech memories happened when I stumbled upon tiny workshops, shared mint tea with strangers, or discovered hidden riads tucked away in maze-like alleys.

Days 3-4: The Sahara Desert Adventure

Ready for the journey of a lifetime? Take that 10-hour bus ride to M'hamid or Tagounite. Yes, it's long, but the changing landscapes outside your window tell Morocco's story better than any guidebook.

Spend one magical night under the Sahara stars. Whether you book a tour or go independently (my preference!), this experience will stay with you forever. The silence, the vastness, the way the sand dunes shift colors – it's pure magic.

Day 5: Back to Marrakech (Recovery Day)

After those long travel days, you'll probably need to spend another night in Marrakech. Use this as your recovery day – grab a hammam, enjoy a leisurely tagine, and prepare for the coast.

Days 6-7: Essaouira - Coastal Charm

Head to Essaouira early morning and prepare to fall in love with this laid-back coastal gem. Two days here is perfect – don't miss the harbor at sunrise when the fishing boats return with their catch. The energy is incredible, and you'll get the most authentic glimpse of daily Moroccan life.

And can we talk about horseback riding on the beach? It's absolutely magical, especially as the sun sets over the Atlantic. Even if you've never ridden before, the gentle horses and stunning scenery make it unforgettable.

Days 8-9: Taghazout - Your New Favorite Place

Drive to Taghazout and prepare to extend your trip (seriously, everyone does!). This surf town has a special energy that draws solo travelers like a magnet. The relaxed vibe, the incredible sunsets, the fresh seafood – and yes, you'll make friends effortlessly here.

Even if you don't surf, the atmosphere is intoxicating. Spend two days soaking it all in, maybe try a surf lesson, and definitely catch at least one sunset from the cliffs.

Day 10: Agadir and Farewell

Your final day takes you to Agadir for your flight home. If you have time, stroll the beachfront promenade and grab one last tagine.

My Solo Travel Reality Check

Traveling solo in Morocco as a woman has been one of my most rewarding experiences. Yes, you'll get attention, and yes, you'll face some challenges – but you'll also discover an inner strength you didn't know you had. The warmth and hospitality of Moroccan people will surprise you, and the connections you make will be genuine.

Pro tip: Be flexible with this itinerary. Morocco has a way of changing your plans in the most beautiful ways. That "wrong" turn in the medina might lead to your favorite memory.
