OIL PERFUME
Concentrated oils are known in entire Arab world. Morocco is not exception! You will find perfume shops selling exclusively oils. They offer a wide range of scents, from “European-like” to heavy, oriental ones.
MUSK
Natural perfume in a cube. You can put it in your car, clothes, bathroom or rub onto your body. It leaves amazing smell! Make sure to buy the good quality one not the fake one so that it will last longer. Good quality musk is not waxy.
GHASSOUL
It is a Moroccan clay for hair and body. Women use it in hammams, they wrap their bodies in it, wait for 15 minutes and rinse. It is supposed to work miracles. I personally got rash after using it. I don’t know if it was the matter of quality or something else. Generally women love it and use it often. You can buy Ghassoul on Amazon.
KHOL
Known in Middle East, Asia and North Africa. It is a magic powder for eyes. It is naturally black and gives eyes very nice look. Khol is a mixture of blended herbs. Natural khol has medical purposes and is good for the eyes. You usually buy it in small, glass bottles in open air markets and shops with spices. There are also chemical ones, in paste or stick.
SAVON NOIR
Typically used in hammams but you can use it as well at home. It is all natural body wash and deep enzymatic scrub. You can buy it per kilo on open-air markets or in small pots in cosmetic shops. The first version is obviously much cheaper. Click here to buy Moroccan black soap.
ARGAN OIL
The best quality argan oil in Morocco can be found in the south. You may, obviously, buy it in entire country but in the south you may go directly to the place where oil is produced!
Argan oil is good for hair (use like a mask before washing your hair), perfect for massage, skin moistuizer and anti-wrinkle treatment. There are hundreds (thousands?) of brands available, in simple bottles and fancy ones. The more sophisticated ones can make a perfect gift from your Moroccan excursion for your family and friends.
BERBER TINT
Amazing thing! It is 2in1: a lip stick and a blush. It gives a healthy red shade. You wonder how to use it ? Just put a wet finger in it and spread on your lips and cheeks! It is difficult to find in bigger cities, you’ll find it in the south of Morocco and in amazigh villages.
ROSE WATER & ORANGE FLOWER WATER
Rose water can be used as a refreshing tonic, make-up remover or a mist for face. It is also a perfect base for henna and ghassoul preparation.
Orange blossom water heals irritations and beautifies the skin. In addition it smells divine. Personally, my favorite part of evening routine. Amazon is full of good quality waters, click here to shop.
ROSE OIL
Personally my number 1! Perfect for unruly hair for daily use (it is not as heavy as argan oil) and as an water-proof eye make-up remover. Leaves your skin smooth and gently perfumed. For the best quality oil you may need to go to Kelaat M’gouna in the High Atlas, not far from Ouarzazate. The city is famous for its rose valley. Rose products are widely available and you can see rose shops on every corner. Just like coffee shops in Amsterdam, kebab bars in Warsaw or sex shops in Moulin Rouge.
