With every single trip, the list of my favorite Moroccan spots gets longer… While in Dakhla Peninsula, I found several spots of that took my breath away and made me forget everything.
Dakhla is a unique place as the crystal-clear waters of the Atlantic meet the white dunes of the Sahara… Where you can see wild animals, taste the best seafood and enjoy beautiful sunsets, nautical sports, beach ad the ocean.

Oyster farm 20 km from Dakhla city. Paradise for seafood lovers. I am not a fan of oysters, but I can recommend them as they are fresh and you can be sure you won’t get sick ;)
They also serve an amazing tajine with calamars, octopus, moules and fish. Once there – definitely give it a try!
Sahara is not just sand. It is also thermal water with sulfate! The source of Asnaa will do good to your body. I didn’t have a bath there, but seen people getting splashed and washed by one man. Just few metres away you will see a herd of wild camels. They are not very trained so you should be careful before approaching them ;)
Dakhla Peninsula is famous for pink flamingos (couldn’t take a photo, they escaped when they saw me), camels, all kinds of fish and crabs. Little, fast creatures that run when they just hear someone coming. When I first saw it, I thought it was ‘handicaped’. Wrong. These are one-claw crabs. You gotta be fast, smart and have a good focus set on your camera to be ready to capture it in a photo;)
Dragon Island is a small island in the middle of the lagoon. When you look at it from afar it looks like a big rock and nothing else. When you arrive there, you will hear birds singing, you will enjoy crystal-clear waters and dazzingly white sand. I found some really beautiful shells there!
The beach of Dakhla Attitude Beach Club. A place where you can relax on big wooden beds, hammocks, swings and comfy pillows. Perfect view on the sunsets. Sunsets there are breathtaking!
The white dunes, where not many people go and you can swim in peace. In addition to that, you will enjoy amazing views!
Dakhla is famous for hosting Dakhla Kitesurf World Championships and it is full of amazing camps and surf hotels. Surfers from all over the world come there to participate in the competiton.

[…] When you want to go to the beaches in the north the best time is from May to September. The sand and water there are way more beautiful and clean than the ones in Rabat or Casablanca surroundings. For really amazing beaches and crystal clear water I advice you to choose the south. I have been in Dakhla and loved it, however you have to be aware of one thing: the weather there is nice all year long but it is very windy. I wrote more about Dakhla here. […]
